Outreach Coordinator (Graduate Student Position):
The New Mexico Department of Agriculture is seeking a team-oriented outreach coordinator to assist in executing requirements per an Environmental Protection Agency grant efficiently. This position will report to the Director of Public Affairs and will work with staff from the department’s Agricultural and Environmental Services Division and the Agricultural Production Services Division. This position involves the development of content for outreach materials and public service announcements (PSAs), responding to emails and phone calls, and other duties as assigned. This temporary position is open to New Mexico State University graduate students who possess required skills and abilities listed below and who have received or are pursuing a degree in media/communications, journalism, government, political science or related field.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop public service announcement content related to pesticides other agriculture-related topics. Create documents, flyers and other materials related to information to homeowners and the general public about safety of pesticides. Work with multiple divisions to collect information on pesticide safety and other topics as assigned.
Organize information on multiple topics to be presented for outreach material.? Provide technical assistance for organizing vendors to produce PSAs. Track detailed log of project and provide report as required per EPA grant at term of project .? Work with a team of content editors, communications specialists and graphic designers to successfully conveying the New Mexico Department of Agriculture’s mission and vision.
Skills and Abilities:?Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job duties.
Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Computer technology; biology/science education preferred; some technical background preferred.
