            Healthy Soil Program

Welcome to the official website for NMDA’s new Healthy Soil Program.

The Healthy Soil Program (HSP) was created when the Healthy Soil Act was signed into law on April 2, 2019.  The purpose of the program is “to promote and support farming and ranching systems and other forms of land management that increase soil organic matter, aggregate stability, microbiology and water retention to improve the health, yield and profitability of the soils of the state.”  This purpose is achieved by funding pilot projects aimed at improving soil health, as well as related education and outreach efforts.

The deadline for NMDA to receive healthy soil education and outreach grant proposals was Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 5 p.m. Late submissions will not be accepted.

We invite you to learn more about NMDA’s Healthy Soil Program by reading the Healthy Soil Act and viewing this infographic, which details the roles that various parties will play in the successful implementation of the Healthy Soil Act.
